Seakeepers Seabed 2030

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project invites government, university, and private vessels to contribute depth measurements through Crowdsourced Bathymetry (CSB). These contributions help map uncharted ocean features, verify existing data, and fill gaps in areas where seafloor information is sparse or outdated. Data collection is streamlined using built-in navigation systems or small hardware loggers that integrate with a ship's GNSS and depth sounder.

The International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) CSB Initiative works with Seabed 2030 to collect and share this data with the global marine geospatial community via the IHO Data Centre for Digital Bathymetry (IHO DCDB). Seabed 2030 aims to map 100% of the ocean floor by 2030 and freely share it through the GEBCO global grid.

Vessels can contribute depth, position, and timestamps while maintaining anonymity. Seabed 2030 acts as a "trusted node" for data submissions, ensuring ease of contribution and offering technical support. Contributions benefit navigation safety, scientific research, and the creation of a complete ocean map for global use.

The NEREIDE project vessel will participate in the Seabed 2030 Project in collaboration with Seakeepers, contributing its depth data to support this global initiative.
